Security of payments with your smartphone

While using your smartphone for payments in stores, your actual card number is not used; instead, the transaction is processed through a token (a unique digital code) generated when the card is added to the app. If you add the card to the app on different devices, they will have different token numbers. This keeps your card data secure. Data security is guaranteed by the payment system certified by Google Inc.

Your smartphone must have screen lock enabled; otherwise, you cannot add a card to the wallet. If the screen lock is disabled, cards in Google Pay will be automatically deleted.
