As part of the approved Lending Strategy, the preferential loan program "5-7-9" has been significantly expanded specifically to meet the needs of citizens and businesses in achieving energy independence.
This was stated by Serhii Mamedov, Vice President of the Association of Ukrainian Banks and Chairperson of the Board of GLOBUS BANK, during an interview with "Suspilne".
In particular, the banker noted that the program now covers the purchase of equipment for the generation and storage of electrical energy from alternative sources (solar and wind) for homeowners associations (HOAs) and housing cooperatives at an annual rate of 7%. Households can receive unsecured loans at 0% for an amount of up to 480,000 UAH with a repayment term of up to 10 years.
As for small and medium-sized businesses, enterprises will be able to purchase gas turbine, gas piston, and biogas generation plants on credit for an amount of up to 150 million UAH with a repayment term of up to 10 years.
The expert emphasized that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the state and the National Bank have been the drivers of the development of bank lending. As of June 2024, over 50% of loans were issued under state credit programs such as "Affordable loans 5-7-9", "eHousing", "Affordable factoring", "Affordable financial leasing 5-7-9", and others.
In his opinion, the state Lending Strategy and Memorandum approved by the Cabinet of Ministers should become a tangible impetus for the activation of lending and the introduction of favorable conditions for borrowers.
"The Memorandum has already united almost 20 banks that not only develop their own credit programs but are also ready to adhere to common credit policy principles. The market expects and needs a significant reduction in loan rates not only for energy loans but also for car loans, mortgages, and targeted loans for small and medium-sized businesses," concluded Serhii Mamedov.
