In the second half of the year, banks will actively develop deposit programs — Serhii Mamedov

In the second half of the year, banks will actively develop deposit programs with a special focus on longer-term deposits — from 1 year to 2.5 years. It is for these deposits that banks offer the highest yield rates, reaching up to 15% per annum.

This was stated by Serhii Mamedov, Chairperson of the Board of GLOBUS BANK.

According to his calculations, by the end of the year, compared to the first half, the volume of new deposit contributions may increase by 5-7%, which can be considered a good result against the backdrop of inflationary processes. However, he warned that by the end of the year, the amount of net profit on deposits in the national currency, depending on the term of placement of funds, may decrease to 4-5%.

“It is expected that despite the rather ‘lively’ inflation, the number of new deposits will gradually increase. Therefore, there is one main reason: currently, for the majority of citizens, hryvnia deposits are the most acceptable way not only to preserve their savings from depreciation but also to obtain a fairly decent net profit, which, by the way, is almost 2-2.5 times higher than the profit from deposits in dollars or euros,” the banker emphasized.
