In May, most banks will adjust rates for hryvnia deposits: their maximum yield will not exceed 15% per annum.
This was announced by Dmytro Zamotaev, Director of the Retail Business Department at GLOBUS BANK.
According to him, after the April reduction in the rate for 3-month deposit certificates from 17.5% to 16.5%, which mainly determines the yield of hryvnia deposits, an expected decrease in deposit rates in the national currency will be on average 1%.
Thus, the average yield on deposits with a term of 3 to 6 months may be around 12-12.5% per annum, and the average yield on deposits with a term of 9 months to 1 year may be up to 12% per annum.
"In May, the tendency to decrease the yield of hryvnia deposits will strengthen: according to various estimates, almost two-thirds of commercial banks will adjust it in accordance with the rate for 3-month deposit certificates. At the same time, until the middle of the month, the short-term 'April trend' will continue: due to the expected and objective decrease in rates for hryvnia deposits, the number of clients opening deposits at 'old' rates may increase on average by 5-10%," the banker noted.
