With the growing popularity of card tools, card fraud is becoming more active. Accordingly, the security system of financial institutions must be at the highest level.
This was stated by Anna Dovhalska, Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Globus Bank.
The expert focused on the main ways to prevent card fraud. According to her, banks are currently actively implementing technologies to protect their clients from the unlawful actions of criminals. Thus, the most effective ways to counter fraud are:
Separate SIM card for financial accounts
For financial transactions, it is better to use a separate SIM card and not disclose its number to anyone. It is advisable for the client to contact the mobile operator to link the number to the passport or switch to a contract. This can be done at a mobile operator's salon or online using a qualified electronic signature (QES). This way, criminals will not be able to make a duplicate without the client's knowledge.
Opening a virtual payment card
The specialist suggests obtaining a payment card in online banking to use it for online purchases. The advantage of a virtual card is that it cannot be stolen. Even if scammers obtain card data, they are unlikely to be able to withdraw funds from it because there will be none.
Setting limits on payment in online stores, cash withdrawals, and money transfers.
Strong passwords
Effective methods of protecting against credit card fraud involve setting passwords for cards, online banking access, email, and phone. Each bank card or system should have its own password, which is recommended to be changed quarterly.
"The simplest yet most significant advice: for a sense of complete security, it is advisable not to disclose the PIN code or login passwords, let alone record them on a smartphone or on a piece of paper in a wallet. Using a card for payment is quick and convenient, but it is always important to be vigilant and take care of one's own safety," advises Anna Dovhalska.
